This case is still a work in progress.

Because it's from 2017/18 and I lost most of the numbers and I'm waiting for a friend that still works there to answer me so I can write about it....

But just to give you a heads-up:

Designing for a financial planning app.

Open banking or Open Financial System, is the standardized sharing of data, products and services by opening and integrating systems, using a dedicated interface for this purpose, by financial institutions, payment institutions and other institutions authorized to operate by the Central Bank (Brazil), in a safe, agile and convenient way.

It's another way of saying: "It's my data, not my bank's data".

And to understand this project, you have to understand that Guiabolso was the first Brazilian startup who fought against the closed banking system and pressured for the arrival of the open banking in Brazil.

"Ok, Amanda.. but what exactly does this startup do?"

(01) They're a financial planning app: you connect your bank accounts and the app will give you a full report about your spendings, savings etc.

(02) To connect your bank accounts, since we don't have the open banking system, the user is requested to give us some personal information: bank number, id number, pin code.............

(03) Basically: the customers give us their password and we login for them, take a "picture" of their bank status and then return those information to our app in a more structured way. This is what we called "crawling".

Can you imagine how sensitive it was to ask all this information from customers? And this is what this case is about.
